This is for the fella’s.
This is for the times we held back when we knew we could be more.
Let me reassure myself that it’s going to be OK.
Let me walk hand in hand with my heart into new relationships, new adventures and new projects.
When I feel the frustration and rage boiling up inside of me, let me remember to cool off.
And let me remember that the best way to do that is with compassion and empathy.
Let me find the courage to wear my heart on my sleeve,
It’s a good lookin’ heart and everyone should see it.
Let me melt into the sweet embrace of Netflix when I need to,
So I can return inspired and regenerated to my life and work.
Harden up? Soften up.
Let me remember what it is like to just do stufffor fun,
And let’s go do that stuff more often.
When I get that feeling,
The one were I’m being crushed under the weight of the world’s expectations,
Let me remember I am not Superman,
I am a Heartman and Heartmen share the load.
I can’t do this alone – help me brothers.
The walls I built to protect myself would put Helms Deep to shame.
They did a find job holding back the bullies, the haters and the trolls.
The problem is I am the only one inside the keep, everyone else over the wall.
It’s time to let the walls crumble.
In those moments of bliss,
With Joy beating on the door to my heart,
don’t let fear turn her away.
Fear may make a good bodyguard but Joy is a Good Life’s best mate.
And if I fuck this up,
And when I fuck this up,
Failing is part of the fun.
Just let me be a Heartman while doing it.
